I hired a car for the day and two of the other joined me for the day and two of the others joined me for a bit of touring about the Island it was a warm day 25°+ and we explored a tea planation. One of very few tea plantations in Europe set-up in the early 20th century with Chinese knowhow and British Machines, the same machines are still in use today.

The island is volcanic, and we visited hot springs which smelt of sulphur (rotten eggs) and the centre of an extinct volcano which is very green and beautiful.

We headed back to the GS in the late afternoon, and I moved off the boat into an apartment near the boat as I had an early flight in the morning and decided it was easier staying in an apartment.
GS was leaving in a few days to sail to the Cape Verde Islands and on to Brazil.
