The operations of the SFTD Yacht Pride of Mann III are governed by the Codes of Practice (“CoP”) the current version is under documents on the website. We are proposing amendments to the CoP and the SFTD Constitution requires that we give members a one-month consultation period to consider any changes, this period expires on 30 July 2025.
Please note there are some formatting errors within the document, which do not impact the content but need to be resolved during the consultation period.
The changes are driven by recommendations from a recent Marine Accident Investigation Branch (“MAIB”) report into the death of a disabled sailor who fell overboard from a yacht in the Solent. We are taking on board those recommendations and have a 12-month transition period for certain aspects. Whilst they are only recommendations at the moment it is fully expected that this will become law.
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide a version with all the changes marked, it will have to be read alongside the old version. The changes relate to qualification and permissions of skippers, mates, and crew along with the new operational appendices numbered 3-5. Most of the other content has not changed except for clarification and style. This version has been reviewed and approved by the board.
Please provide any comment to training@sftd-iom.com by 30 July 2025.
