Hello Members!

Hello members!

Your board of directors met again last week to continue to discuss and manage the running of Sailing for the Disabled.

Boat manager Bobby has returned from his ( long) and exotic holiday and has been in contact today with the engineers who are working on Pride of Mann III. He is waiting to hear when she can be launched so that we can organise collection. It’s fair to say that we are all eagerly awaiting her return- so dust off your oilies people!

This month we have received another welcome grant from the Gough Ritchie Charitable Trust, £2500 for which we are truly thankful. The trust has been generous to SFTD for many years, and this money will go towards covering the boat maintenance costs. Thank you to our Secretary Chris Wood for applying for this grant.

The next meeting of the Fundraising and Engagement Committee takes place next week and will be looking the groups’ strategy and making plans for summer events.

Keep an eye on our website sftd-iom.com for a new feature. We are going to add information about each board member in response to requests from some members to learn more about us. Let us know what you think of this? Later we’ll be doing the same featuring our crew- ‘Meet the Crew!’

And talking of crew…..

Sailing for the Disabled needs more skippers ( and mates) to help deliver our fantastic comprehensive sailing programme to our members. We are planning a poster campaign for our socials and across the island with the aim of attracting people with the sailing skills and experience to help us. We’ll be covering sailing/yacht clubs, harbourside bars, supermarkets, sports centres etc.  If you have any further suggestions for other placements, let us know!
