Change of role for Gerry

During the last few months our Membership Secretary, Gerry Morley, has expressed a wish to step back from the administration role, and to concentrate on other matters, including crewing on POM III.  This brings to an end many years of backroom service to our Charity, which began in 2015 when Gerry took on the role as Secretary for the Charity, supporting Arne Dahn period as Chairman.  Gerry went on to serve as Secretary for 6 years (until 2021) bringing a strong work ethic and order to the role, organising corporate membership and logo sponsorship invoicing, membership administration, website and media activities, correspondence to / from the charity, organisation of Committee meetings and minutes, ….. the list goes on, handing on the baton to Chris Wood.

However Gerry did not just withdraw from the organisation but rather she stepped in to fill the role of membership secretary for a further 5 years!!

Gerry’s tireless support for the organisation has never wavered, and all this was in addition to Gerry being an ever-present top-class skipper for SFTD . Gerry is a keen and experienced sailor, and the Charity benefitted significantly when in 2014 Gerry passed her Coastal skipper qualification and became one of our stalwart sailing leaders, supporting our members with sailing experiences and training on POM III.

Gerry will continue to crew on the boat, but the Board felt that during this moment it is right that we recognise and thank Gerry for the contribution that she has made to our Charity .  Thank you Gerry!
