A generous donation from Peel Charity Shop

We had a truly inspiring Morning at the Peel Charity shop event. 14 Charities each gave a short presentation and were rewarded with cheques.
SAILING FOR THE DISABLED received a cheque for £2,500 - absolutely amazing!
We explained this fantastic contribution would go towards a new propeller and a rope cutter. Also how inspired and grateful we are to be chosen to receive such an award. We thanked the Peel Charity for their wonderful hard work and support.
We showed a photo of POMIII and talked about the adaptions made to accommodate wheelchairs as well as listing "who can sail with us" eg those recovering from a stroke, heart attack, depression + autistic, visually impaired etc etc.
The short talk was very well received and even caused a ripple of laughter when I explained the toilets are called "heads".
We chatted to many of the 100 or so people present afterwards, also gave out leaflets and believe there will be several new disabled people joining.

Thank you Margaret, Adrienne, Peter and Lesley for being such excellent ambassadors for our Charity!

"DISABILITY AWARENESS TRAINING- LAST CHANCE!!

You know who you are...... :-)"

May your Christmas be bright & merry

During the Festive Season it is customary to send Christmas messages to clients and customers. Perhaps, this year, instead of sending cards, you might possibly consider donating to one of our local charities, thus providing valuable help in maintaining the many services provided to our Community.

"Sailing for the Disabled" would be thrilled to receive one such donation, enabling us to continue providing the sailing experience to individuals with disabilities. Most charities are currently struggling to generate funds and certainly any one of the Island's charities would be grateful to receive a donation, especially at this time of year.

Notwithstanding, on behalf of all our volunteers and members, Sailing for the Disabled would like to wish you and your team a very Merry Christmas and a successful and prosperous 2020

BAG PACK Sunday 8 December

Volunteers are needed for our Bag Pack in Shoprite, Bowring Road, Ramsey on Sunday 8th December.
As well as raising funds to keep our fantastic yacht  Pride of Mann III sailing, bag packs also help to raise awareness of the charity.
Please contact Adrienne on 466514 if you could possibly spare an hour or two to help with bag packing or just talking to customers and give information about your charity.
Many thanks to Shoprite for allowing us to use their store.

POM III still in Whitehaven

As you might have noticed, the berth of Pride of Mann III is still empty. Unfortunately we have to be patient a little longer as works progress.

The engineers are working hard on getting the propeller and rope cutter ready but since a special modification is needed to be able to attach the rope cutter, works take a little longer. Rest assured, the boat will be in tip-top shape and even more safe than before once back home.
